Blizzard has announced that Sam Raimi will direct a World of Warcraft film. The Spiderman Trilogy director will helm the Warcraft movie which has no release date.
Casting has begun for George RR Martin’s a Game of Thrones on HBO. On his website, GRRM begins to chronicle the hires to this point with Boromir, Sean Bean, playing Lord Stark.
Locus Magazine is the standard bearer when it comes to genre related news. Charles Brown co-founded, edited and published Locus for years back when it was pretty uncool to do so. He passed away this past week.
There is rumors and retractions and more rumors and retractions with pictures which are old but claim to be new….. Filming was to begin this week on Voyage of the Dawn Treader but rumors abound that it may or may not be. Follow it here.

Comic Con 2009 has wrapped up and boy was it interesting. Most notable were the panels which included one of my favorites, the Guild panel. They were decked out in their IN-GAME attire which was interesting. Also Friday was Star Wars day which is always fun. See the full schedule and wrap-ups here.
